Accomplishments

Since its inception in 1998, the Friends of Balboa Park (formerly the Balboa Park Millennium Society) has identified needs and brought to fruition many collaborative projects, programs and events in the Park.

2005	Information Kiosks Design and Installation of five touch screen interactive Kiosks in highly pedestrian trafficked areas of Park with WiFi connectivity. 1st two Kiosks due for installation by early 2006	SAIC, City of San Diego, City of San Diego Park and Recreation, House of Hospitality, and other Park entities. 2005	Fountain Finial Installation Funding for the re-creation, construction, and installation of finials based on original blueprints of finials for fountain near the Reflection Pond from the 1915 Exposition	San Diego Park and Recreation Department, and FOBP Donors Completed in Fall, 2005
2005 2004	December Nights Sponsor Provide partial funding and support for continuation of this two-day festival which brings over 100,000 visitors to Balboa Park	City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department, Business Improvement District Council (BID), San Diego Union Tribune, San Diego Chargers, KyXy 96.5 Radio, the SD Foundation, and the House of Hospitality.

2004 2003 2002	Balboa Park Resource Directory Design, publication, and distribution of a park-wide resource guide. Third edition completed in July, 2004	1st and 2nd edition partially funded by San Diego National Bank.

Klauber, Mary and Dallas Clark, SDSU for School in the Park, and Charlotte Nielsen. ’05 honorees are Kay Porter and Roger Showley. 2002	Hosted Balboa Park Community Forum on the future of Balboa Park in the 21st century to review, comment and provide community input to land planning entities and initiate a strategic process. Published white paper from the forum. Featured speaker Peter Harnik of the Trust for Public Lands.
